Grand Theft Auto 6: Release Date Speculation
What Comes Next…
Rockstar Games is finally coming together to create the next Grand Theft Auto series installment. With an active confirmation for GTA 6, it’s hard not to be excited about the next console-defining title. Grand Theft Auto 6’s release date is currently unknown, but there are clues down the rabbit hole that point out not only a ramped-up company plan, but a trend in releases.
Grand Theft Auto 5 was originally released for the Playstation 3 and Xbox 360 way back in September of 2013. After nearly a decade of waiting, players are getting desperate and anything that could point to a release has become like a salivating bread crumb. The first on the trail is the Rockstar Career Page expanding to over 200 job listings this past week. With such an expansive amount of options, one may think the company is ramping up for something new.
With help from VentureBeat and Take-Two’s 10-k SEC filing, there are showings for Rockstar to increase spending on advertisement between April 2023 – March 2024, $89 million to be more specific. This is obviously not a small amount and this same occurrence happened for other titles released in the past.
Due to the evidence showing an increase in employees and advertisements, the latest theory is that Grand Theft Auto 6 will be released in the second quarter of 2023. Interestingly, that also lines up with almost a decade release difference between the fifth and sixth “supposed” installments. For now, we just have to keep our eyes out for any new crumbs that may get left behind. This is one I can’t wait to step into!
